Fresh Organic Produce on Fridays

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Did you know that Spitfire Media Group is now a local delivery hub for fresh, locally grown organic produce every Friday?  As a way of staying connected to our community and supporting local farms, we’ve joined with Local Food Stop to offer this service. In our first week, there were 9 bags of fresh fruit and vegetables delivered, and this week that number more than doubled to 21 bags!

The produce varies from week to week, and has included fresh lettuce, squash, zucchini, kiwi, apples, eggplant, sweet potatoes, strawberries and more. Here is a small sampling of this week’s produce:

We are amazed at the freshness of the produce and its vibrant color.  These carrots were a highlight from this weeks bags.

Tammy discovered that she could use her carrot tops as a hiding place, if necessary.

Want to participate?  Simply visit www.localfoodstop.com and order a regular, medium or large bag of produce by 10AM on Tuesdays, select Spitfire Media Group as your pickup location, and then stop by to pick up your bag on Friday between 2-5:30PM. You’ll enjoy the healthy food and feel good about supporting local agriculture.

Tammy’s Birthday Spells Success

Friday, February 26th, 2010

This week we celebrated Tammy’s birthday!  What better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than with one of her favorite foods, pizza!  We got a couple of pies from Buckhead Pizza, and Tammy washed it down with an ice cold Mountain Dew.

After she did the Dew, we introduced Tammy to the true theme of her birthday, the First Annual Spitfire Spelling Bee!

Why a spelling bee?  Well, let’s just say that Tammy is sometimes grammatically challenged.  We can’t all be spelling champs day in and day out, but Tammy certainly takes the cake.  Or, should I say Tammee taykes thee cayk.  Please note that she is wearing a funny party favor in the photo above, a pair of lips with a built in whistle.

The Spelling Bee had a full roster of contestants, each with their own pair of ghetto glasses from the Goodwill.

The words that the contestants had to spell all revolved around Tammy’s history at Spitfire. After several competitive rounds with his fellow contestants, Bradley and his nerd glasses emerged victorious.

After the exhausting intellectual challenge of the Spelling Bee we settled into the conference room and enjoyed  a delicious fresh fruit salad prepared by Paige.

If there’s one word we could spell for Tammy and her dedication to our team, it would be T-H-A-N-K-S!

Happy Birthday Tammy!

Richard Calmes Publishes Dance Photography Book

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Richard Calmes, former Gwinnett-based businessman now living in Hiawassee and Duluth, has published a book of his favorite dance images taken over the past three years titled “Dance Magic.” Recently, Calmes has established himself as one of the preeminent dance photographers in the country. This past year alone he has had seven dance industry periodical covers and dozens of dance images published.

Calmes explains, “I call the book ‘Dance Magic’ because that is the only way I can explain the incredible feats of physical strength and beauty that dancers perform in front of my lenses on a regular basis. Every image in this book has a story.” The pictures are from his studio and outdoor creative sessions from the last three years. Calmes found “Dance Magic” in all kinds of settings, from the streets of New York City to the waves of the Pacific Ocean.

Dancers from the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre (a great Spitfire client!) are prominently represented, as Calmes began taking dance photography to accompany his wife Holley’s public relations efforts for the Gwinnett-based company. Calmes continues, “I love dance… and I love dancers. And I appreciate dancers. And I think I have grown to understand dancers. It is this love, appreciation, and understanding I hope to convey in my work. If you find any of these images beautiful, it is because I was lucky enough to capture the beauty created by these special and spectacular artists.”

Calmes began his life in photography as a combat photographer in Vietnam. His dance photos and many other types of images can be found through his web site. Copies of his book, “Dance Magic,” can be purchased here.

Congratulations on the well deserved success, Richard!

Client Web Launch: Canongate Golf

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

This week we launched a landing page for Canongate Golf, a leading regional private network of golf courses.  This campaign highlights a giveaway of a free round of golf for every entry, with one lucky entrant receiving a full year of free golf. (Hint: if you like golf, register!)

In addition to creating the design and developing this database-driven landing page, we also developed the animated flash header that features beautiful course photography and a ball that flies right over your head!

This type of project can be turned around very quickly, and offers you an easy way to add to your customer database.  What kind of campaign or giveaway could you offer to drive business and increase your potential client list?  Send us a note, we’d love to brainstorm with you.
